1. Do you have a catalog?
   
   Sorry, we do not publish a printed knife catalog. However, everything is listed on the web site.

2. Do you make, modify or engrave any of your products?
   
   We are internet retailers of knives only. We don't make or modify any products. If you are looking to have a knife engraved we suggest that you have it done locally. This will provide you with more control if something is not correct when the engraving is done. Be sure that whoever does the engraving knows exactly how and what you want done. We have also found that most local engraving companies can do a better and cheaper job so we don't offer any engraving.

3. How much is this item?
   
   Pricing for items is displayed on pages for single items. Some pages summarize a list of items. A link from the list will take you to the details for the product. If the item is currently available, a "Place In Cart" button along with the price will be shown. We do our best to have accurate pricing. We are, however, human and mistakes are made. Sometimes a price is too high, sometimes we have an item displayed at zero. Just as you expect us to fix a high price, we expect your understanding when we explain that an item was priced too low. We attempt to update most of our item pricing daily, but some suppliers do not provide us with daily updates. We manually update items whenever we are aware of a price change. We apologize when a mistake is made and appreciate hearing from you if you notice an error so that we can correct it as soon as possible.

4. Is this item in stock?
   
   We maintain a 92-98 percent fill rate depending upon the season. However, with the number of items listed, this means that several items can be out of stock at any given time. On occasion the item is backordered at the factory level and we cannot get it to you. We're sorry when this happens, but it is beyond our control. Much of our database is updated daily. The sales are posted once daily, in the evening (usually by 10:00 P.M. ET). Generally, if the website says we have an item in stock, we have the item.
   
   If getting your order is critical, please tell us in the SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS field during checkout that you NEED the item and ask us to contact you immediately if the item is not in stock.
   
   Items may be marked (D/C) are discontinued. In some cases a discontinued item will have a price. When the price disappears, the item is no longer available.

5. When will my order ship?
   
   99.5% of all orders received are shipped the next shipping day, if the order is received after 10:00 A.M. Monday thru Friday. Orders received during Friday after 10:00 A.M., Saturday and Sunday will typically be shipped on Monday however, if there has been a high volume of orders it will possibly be shipped on Tuesday. You will receive a notification of shipment along with a tracking number.
   
   However, there may be times when, due to volume it may take up to 2 days to ship (this is especially true with weekend orders). If time is a paramount consideration in ordering there are a couple of things that you can do to help expedite a shipment:
   1) Select a faster shipping such as UPS Next Day (these are always placed at the top for priority handling).
   2) Enter a request in the Comment Box at the time of submitting your order (we will place this order next after the premium shipping selections).
   3) Send us an E-mail requesting expedited handling (this will place your order after the first two but before others).

6. When must I order to get a UPS 3rd, 2nd Day or Overnight on Friday?
   
   You must make your knife order before 10:00 A.M. ET on Tuesday to receive your 3rd Day order by Friday. 2nd day must be ordered by 10:00 A.M. ET on Wednesday and Overnight by 10:00 A.M. ET on Thursday. We do not use UPS Saturday delivery. See SHIPPING INFORMATION for a complete explanation.

7. Do you accept returns?
   
   Returns of knives must be made within 30 days of purchase, in their original boxes and in new condition. You must request a Return Authorization Number (RNA) prior to returning the item/s. Returned knives, which have a RNA and will be assessed up to a 20% restocking fee plus 2.9% Merchant Fee (Credit Card) applies. Defective and/or damaged merchandise will be handled on a case by case basis. After 3 days, the manufacturer's warranty on your knife will apply. See SHIPPING POLICY for a complete explanation.

8. What is the back order time frame?
   
   Normally we will indicate that a knife is out-of-stock (by the absence of a shopping cart), but there are times when this may not be so indicated. We will notify you if the knife you ordered is on back-order or no longer available via e-mail. If you decide not to wait, we will refund your purchase price (this includes any additional charges for shipping, if applied).
   
   However, if you elect to wait, we will notify you after 30 days or if the promised date is exceeded (whichever is greater) that the item is still on back order and offer to refund your purchase price (this includes any additional charges for shipping, if applied) or keep it on back order.
   
   Please keep in mind that we are at the mercy of our knife suppliers and the knife manufacturer's as to when back orders are filled. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause. See SHIPPING POLICY for a complete explanation.

9. What is the best way to keep my knife sharp?
   
   One important thing to remember with any knife is to maintain the edge - it is better to keep it reasonably sharp rather than let it get completely dull and then try to get the edge back. See our information page for information on sharpening your knife. See Sharpening Your Knife.

10. What is the best lubricant to use on the folding knives?
    
    The pivot of all folding knives needs to be kept lubricated for optimum performance. We have found a fluorinated grease is very slippery but does not get sticky or attract lint very easily. CRK Fluorinated Grease fits the bill for any type of folding knife well – other lubricants tend to be either so thick that it slows done the operation of the knife (particularly if it is cold) or too thin and it dissipates too quickly. CRK Fluorinated Grease is packaged in a syringe that allows you to put just a drop exactly where you need it. The rotating cap seals the tube and prevents leakage. It isn't necessary to use much because a little drop goes a long way. You should be able to obtain this at a quality Sporting Goods Store.

12. What is S30V stainless steel?
    
    S30V is a specialty stainless steel made by Crucible Steel in Syracuse, New York. Crucible Steel is a company that is passionate about the steel they make. It is a stainless steel created with the knife market in mind, alloyed to accommodate specific capabilities and manufactured to ensure clean, uniform steel.
    
    Unlike traditionally cast and rolled steels, S30V is made using the powder metallurgy process, a process that reduces molten alloy components to minute balls – or powder – which results in every grain comprising the exact composition of alloy elements. The powder is compressed under significant force to a homogenous, solid state and the steel is rolled to required stock size. Molecules are uniform, inclusions of impurities are insignificant and the development of large chrome carbides is a thing of the past
    
    In recent years, advances in specialty steels have been incrementally small and every advance is more of a “tweaking” nature than a “great leap” nature. Other knife blade steels used include; ATS 34 and BG42, are excellent knife steels.

13. Serrations Vs no serrations?
    
    Knife blade serrations offer an aggressive cut for strapping, cord, rope, lanyards or similar. One consideration to keep in mind is whether or not your knife usage warrants serrations. A well sharpened straight knife edge is the most efficient cutting edge so if you don't have practical usage applications, we suggest purchasing a knife without serrations.

14. Is it safe to order with my credit card online?
    
    Yes! Any credit card information submitted during the ordering process is confidential and is fully protected by an encryption process. Your private information is transferred directly to our processing agent, who handles the entire billing process. The staff of HIGH CALIBER KNIVES will never see your full account number. 15. Can I place my order over the phone?
    
    NO! To ensure that your credit card information is secure, we prefer that you place your order using our secure online ordering form. This will also reduce the potential for errors in the ordering process.

17. When will my credit card be billed?
    
    Your credit card will not typically be billed until the item is shipped. The exception to this is if the item has been placed on back order.

18. Do you accept International Orders?
    
    We DO NOT accept International orders due to the recent increase in credit card fraud, lost shipments, customs seizures and the legal quagmire. We apologize for this inconvenience.

19. What are the terms and conditions of ordering from HIGH CALIBER KNIVES?
    
    Minimum Age requirements:
    You must be at least 18 to order a knife from us. In some cases items contained on this web site may be illegal in your area for possession by those under 21. It is the customer's responsibility to check all local laws concerning the ownership, use and possession of any item in this catalog.
