These PayPal certificates expire within one year of purchase date or incur a maintenance fee. You can either print the Gift Certificate to stuff in a stocking or e-mail it.

Recipient Cancellations: Gift certificate recipients can cancel their gift certificate within 60 days of the purchase date and have funds refunded to the purchaser.
Refunds: Refunds on gift certificates that were purchased using a credit/debit card will have the face value credited to that credit/debit card. Refunds on gift certificates that were not purchased using a credit/debit card will be placed into the purchaser's PayPal account.
Expiration: Gift certificates do not have an expiration date.
Requirements: Merchants have the right to refuse a transaction. Many merchants require a confirmed address, which could require that a credit card and billing address be entered.
Certificate Redemption:
Merchant Gift Certificates can be redeemed only for merchandise sold by the merchant. The recipient of a gift certificate clicks the seller's Shopping URL to begin shopping and simply click or enter their redemption code during checkout.
If the purchase price (which includes shipping, handling and any applicable taxes) is less than the amount shown for the Gift Certificate, the remaining value is still available for a later purchase.
REMAINING BALANCE EXAMPLE:
The Gift Certificate is valued at $50.00. The recipient purchases a knife at $35.00 and has a shipping and handling fee of $8.50 for a total purchase price of $43.50. The remaining $6.50 is still available for a future purchase. $50.00 - $35.00 - $8.50= $6.50 Balance.
If the purchase price exceeds the value of the Gift Certificate (or a remaining balance), the recipient can make up the difference using either an acceptable credit card or from their PayPal account (if they have one).
PURCHASE PRICE EXCEEDS GIFT CERTIFICATE EXAMPLE:
The Gift Certificate is valued at $50.00. The recipient purchases a knife at $72.95 and has a shipping and handling fee of $8.50 for a total purchase price of $81.45. The additional payment REQUIRED is $31.45. $50.00 - $72.95 - $8.50= -$31.45 Balance (to be paid with either a credit card or PayPal account).
